I have an 11 inch HP Stream Pro G4 and it came with a 64 GB drive and that is barely enough space.Īfter I installed Office 2019, and a couple of other programs, I only have 23 GB remaining. I agree with you.I have no idea how you can manage space with only 32 GB of storage. When you get to the part of the installation process where you are asked 'Where do you want to install Windows, delete every partition on the hard drive, leaving just one partition of unallocated space.Īfter W10 installs, you can install the available drivers and software from your specific Stream notebook's support page. Business PCs, Workstations and Point of Sale SystemsĬlean install W10 by using the media creation tool at the link below to create an 8 GB USB flash drive installer.Printer Wireless, Networking & Internet.I feel it doesn't have the power or space on the SSD to run 10 properly. Notebook Hardware and Upgrade Questions Best way to 'Upgrade' is to create the ISO image, back up your files, do a recovery on the HDD and remove everything except the Intel items that are listed in the Control Panel.I'm sure others with the Stream 11-13-14-series are interested as well. Would that new storage supplement the C: drive (positively extending the usefulness) or just be another (marginally useful) drive like the SD? I have Model: 13-c010nr. But a dark cloud hovers, the idea that I'll again experience Windows updating my laptop to death.īTW, I'm intrigued with the idea (provided in a previous post) that I might be able to sacrifice internal wi-fi functionality to supplement internal storage, assuming I can offset that wi-fi loss with a USB-connected wi-fi adapter. I wonder how long this new lease on usefulness will last? How soon will Windows impossibly insist on my freeing up some space again? I hope I've bought myself another 2 useful years. Didn't yet (& may not) turn-on the Protection option that will consume some user-determined further sacrifice of C: space, & I'm now at 9.02GB free. I've returned this Stream 13 to usefulness, having directed each app that allowed it to the SD card. Specified SD card install of MS Office University. Installed Google Chrome browser & Acrobat Reader. I next installed a 128GB SD card & was careful to set options for ALL new apps, docs, music & photos to be saved to that SD drive. Immediately after Win 10 install, I have 17GB free, then with more fresh updates about 13.7GB free. True, it appears my "32gb" is just 29.1GB before Win 10 install. I did use another computer to download the Win 10 ISO, & burn it to disk, tweak the BIOS (Legacy enabled, Secure Boot disabled, reorder boot devices) to boot from a USB disk drive, selected CUSTOM install, deleted all partitions, loaded Win 10. I want to clean install Win 10 on my Stream computers. Can HP give us clearly useful information to remove the existing partitions & do a clean Win 10 install so that these computers remain actually useful, not frustrating BRICKS ? Please do what MS cannot or will not do, please HELP us. Continue with installation. When installing choose Custom and delete each partition. Setting aside the bad advice from MS, this affects the HP-brand image. From the menu tap F9 key and use the arrow keys to move to and select usb. This is happening surely to millions of Win 10 users globally who are using a 32 GB flash-memory computer that out-of-the-box may be capable of running Win 10, but will become useless with MS updates & DEFINITELY NOT BE CAPABLE OF RUNNING WIN 10. No option ever as described by MS to select a blank USB drive as a destination for the needed creation media. As there is insufficient local space, I select the option for creating media for a different PC using a USB flash drive, then the software tool stops & tells me it needs 8 GB of free space. From the MS site, I've downloaded mediacreationtool1803.exe & run it on an HP Stream 11, Stream 13 & Stream 14. All 3 have SD-cards for personal storage, there is nothing personal on the C: drive, MS updates have used most all available space. I have 3 HP Win 10 notebook computers which are useless except for perpetually trying to solve the insufficient drive space issue.
